On page 39 of GPM, the States of Guernsey “Resumé Général des Billets en Circulation” was explained and how it ensured that the States adhered to the agreement made with the Joint Stock banks that the number of States’ notes in circulation would not exceed G£40,000 at any one time. Not only does this register display the frequency of States’ note issues, but it also clearly shows the number of earlier issues that were still outstanding. The Summary or Resumé operated from 1858 to 1898. Due to editorial constraints, I was only allowed to publish one page as an example in the book; there follows a full transcript (tap at end of spreadsheet to access other pages).
